Without Typography, life would be shit.

Typography really sets off an image. Typography is just beautiful, its everywhere, you see it everyday and it just gives an image so much character! Its an artform in itself.

Typography is such an interesting subject, ill admit i'm not the greatest at coming up with a font but i'll give it a bloody good try. It truly fascinates me how something so simple is such a huge part of my everyday life. The newspapers i read, the magazines and now even apps. The Typography of a game or any other app is the biggest selling point for me. Combining all the different elements of a game and to have a font that really sets is off is amazing.

Grid systems, and their importance.

grid is a structure made up of a series of intersecting straight (vertical, horizontal, and angular) or curved guide lines used to structure content. The grid serves as a template which a designer can organize graphic elements n a rational, easy manner. A grid can be use to organize graphic elements in relation to a page, in relation to other graphic elements on the page, or relation to other parts of the same graphic element or shape.

Differences between layout for print, and layout for screen.

Designing for print as opposed to designing for the web can be a completely different experience. To better understand these differences, the two can be compared in major topic areas: types of media, audience, layout, color, technology
and careers. Not everyone's looking at the graphic design
                                                                           side of web design.

Over the summer...

This summer i became an addict, i became addicted to crystal meth;
Not really but i did become addicted to watching Breaking Bad, i was doing 4 episodes a day, at one point i was doing 5-6 episodes a day at my worst.
It stopped me from being sociable, i didnt see my girlfriend for days on end. Things got rocky, but at the end of it i still had Heisenberg.

This year i would like to really get my head down and focus on the task at hand. Most of all i would like to really up my skills at most computer design and further my knowledge as much as i can.

Smoothie Project

This design was my final piece for a smoothie project.
In this project i had to not just design a smoothie company. but completely create a whole new smoothie brand in its self.

After plenty of days deciding on names and how they would look, 'Bits' smoothies was the one for me.
Using 'Bits' i went for a more 'sex sells' approach but it also had a comedy side to it. But the real meaning was just to interpret 'only the best bits'. The illustration goes with that idea aswell because it shows a banana with the best bits cut out of it.
The colour scheme not only interprets the flavour of the smoothie but also gives of a healthy look.
I really enjoyed this project because there was a lot of design work involved, not just creating a logo, but creating a whole company, bottle design and posters. There was a lot to do in this project which kept me busy. Overall, i'm pleased with the outcome.

Illustration created by pencil, scanned in and completed in Adobe Illustrator.
